Weather: A few showers, cooler Tuesday but sun staging a comeback

After more than 28 mm of rain fell at the Ottawa airport Monday, a few showers and a high of just 14 C are on tap for Tuesday.

But watch for some sunshine peeking out of a mix of sun and cloud by late afternoon, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada.

Skies are expected to clear near midnight on the way to an overnight low of 5 C.

A northwest wind at 30 km/h gusting to 50 Tuesday becomes northwest 20 km/h in the evening and light near midnight.

Wednesday’s forecast is pure sunshine and 20 C then cloudy periods and 8 C expected overnight.

Thursday’s outlook is cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of showers during the day and a 30 per cent chance Thursday night. The forecast high is 19 C with a low of 12 C.

Friday and Saturday are expected to be cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of showers, day and night, and highs of 25 C and 21 C. Friday night is expected to dip to 16 C with a low of 10 C Saturday night.

“Normals” for mid-May are highs of 20 C and lows of 9 C.
