Vancouver Coastal Health says “vulnerable people” in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside have been approached with offers to pay to get a COVID-19 vaccine by people trying to fraudulently obtain a BC vaccination card.

The health authority says those who were approached were told to get vaccinated by misusing that person’s name and information.

The authority described the behavior as “deplorable”.

He says he is “disappointed that someone is taking advantage of vulnerable people” to try to circumvent the process of receiving a vaccination card.

Vancouver Coastal Health claims to have been successful in preventing fraudulent attempts to obtain a card. He says fraudulent immunization records are removed from the provincial immunization registry and cards are revoked.

The health authority says future cases of fraud could be referred to the police.
