Sussex-made wine given ‘champagne-style status’

Maitre D’ Fred Sirieix says the “perception of the consumer” is very important for the popularity of champagne as a Sussex-made sparkling wine is given a “champagne-style status”.

He said all regions of England should be explored for the production of wine.

“It’s about marketing, it’s about PR and it’s about, of course, what’s in the bottle,” Mr Sirieix told Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan.

“But the perception of the consumer is very, very important for champagne.”
