Road closed, buses to replace trains

UPDATE: Derrimut Road in Werribee is closed in both directions between Railway Avenue and Princes Highway, due to a police incident at the railway viaduct.

The Department for Transport is asking motorists to avoid the area and instead use nearby road bridges at Werribee or Hoppers Crossing.

Buses continue to replace trains on the Werribee line between Laverton and Werribee stations.

Rail services will continue to operate between Flinders Street and Laverton.

The Department for Transport issued a statement advising passengers to check displays on station platforms and listen to announcements, and to allow extra time for their journey.

“This incident is under the control of Victoria Police,” the statement said.

“Services will resume when it is safe to do so.”

The VicRoads signaling team is monitoring conditions and will adjust traffic signals as needed to minimize congestion and facilitate bus movement in the area.

Local bus services on lines 153 and 498 provide another alternative for commuters traveling through the area.
