Philippe Coutinho salary, £ 30million transfer fee, Manchester United debut – Aston Villa live q & a

Aston Villa have made the successful deal to bring Philippe Coutinho to Villa Park.

This is by far the most high-profile signing in recent memory for Villa fans, as Steven Gerrard signals a true declaration of intent after landing his first signing as manager following his appointment in November.

At the heart of Villa’s loan deal, Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens will fund a portion – estimated at around 65% – of Coutinho’s £ 380,000-a-week salary.

Villa, meanwhile, confirmed that an option to buy was in place at the end of the season if Gerrard wanted to trigger charges estimated north of £ 30million.

Coutinho is still in quarantine following a positive Covid test, but will fly to Birmingham in the next 48 hours for a medical examination.

BirminghamLive’s Aston Villa writer Ashley Preece has been in constant dialogue with journalists in Barcelona and, since 3:30 p.m. From then on, he will host a live Q&A with Villa fans to discuss the next step for Coutinho and how he fits under Gerrard.
