Man charged with possession of prohibited firearms | County Chief of St George and Sutherland

A man has been charged with banning firearms in his possession.

At around 11 p.m. on January 4, police raided the man’s residence following an altercation with staff at a take-out store earlier in the evening.

At around 8 p.m., the 33-year-old had ordered food from a store in Flora Street, Sutherland. An argument ensued and he dropped several containers from the counter.

The staff asked him to leave and he was escorted from the scene. The man allegedly pushed and hit three people. Two suffered minor injuries. He set off in the direction of Sutherland station.

When police arrived at his home, police reportedly found a replica pistol and a replica military assault rifle (gel blasters). Both weapons are prohibited firearms.

He was charged with three counts of common assault, two counts of possession of an unauthorized prohibited firearm and two counts of possession of an unregistered firearm.

He was granted strict conditional bail to appear in local Sutherland court on February 10.
