Protesters gathered in Manchester city center this afternoon as part of a ‘Kill the Bill’ protest.
Activists took to St. Peter’s Square for the protest today (Saturday).
A range of different groups have joined in protest against the new Policing, Crime, Punishment and Courts Bill, which proposes to give police in England and Wales more power to impose penalties conditions for non-violent demonstrations.
Many activists have placards and banners.
Police were photographed at the scene.
Protesters are expected to march through the city, an Extinction Rebellion spokesperson said.
Another demonstration related to the Government of Kazakhstan is also taking place this afternoon in St. Peter’s Square.
