Donegal Foundation launches free online fitness and mental health program – Donegal Daily

Registration is now underway for a FREE fitness and wellness program with the No Barriers Foundation in Letterkenny.

The online course invites people to exercise from home, learn how to become more active in 2022, stay connected with others, and most importantly, take time to disconnect.

Starting Thursday, January 20 at noon, virtual classes will include a full exercise program with experienced trainers, followed by a Tea & Talk session to see how everyone is doing.

This program is open to anyone, anywhere!

Everything you need to know:

When is the course?
Classes will take place at noon every Thursday, starting January 20, 2020

How many weeks does it last?
Twelve weeks in total – you’ll enjoy eight weeks of exercise classes and four weeks of educational lectures

How much does it cost?
This is completely FREE, thanks to support from the Donegal County Council Development Fund initiative.

Who is this class for?
People of all fitness levels are welcome and there is no age limit.

What type of exercises will I do?
Our trainers will guide you through a fun range of aerobic, resistance, balance and flexibility exercises. We will suggest adjustments for people of varying abilities.

Will I need equipment?
We recommend having resistance bands and dumbbells on hand, but we can also suggest household items to use instead.

What is the Tea and Talk session after?
After each class, we’ll have a light chat session afterwards to see how everyone is doing. In addition to exercise, we’d like to help people connect as a community.

Who will coach me?
We have an experienced team of physiotherapists, an occupational therapist and fitness instructors who are on hand to share advice and answer any questions you may have about your own health. The No Barriers Foundation is an inclusive gym for everyone.

What other benefits can I derive from my participation?
In 12 weeks, you will become more active, stay in touch with others and, most importantly, take time to disconnect! We understand that there is a lot of negativity and worry about health these days, which is why our course seeks to promote good mental health through the benefits of exercise. During these difficult times, we can all take care of our own physical and mental health and well-being by adding healthy and helpful habits to our daily and weekly routines. The No Barriers team is here to guide you with information and advice on how to plan the things that will help you stay healthy over the coming months.

Sounds good, how do I sign up?
Just email hello@nobarriers.ie or call 0838855056 to register, and we’ll be happy to answer any further questions. Once registered, we will send you a link to join the first class at noon on January 20.

No Barriers is a non-profit organization that removes barriers to exercise and physical activity. We help anyone with a disability to become fitter and stronger by improving both their physical and mental health. We have an inclusive center in Letterkenny to allow for individual and group exercise sessions.

No Barriers also grants access to the only Ekso Bionics exoskeleton suit in the Northwest. The specialized suit allows people with reduced mobility to walk and rehabilitate in a way that was never possible before this technology.
