A woman banned from driving until 2039 has been caught driving.
On Christmas Eve just before 4:30 p.m., St George Police stopped a silver Mercedes hatchback heading south on the Princes Highway in Blakehurst.
The driver, a 39-year-old female from Darlinghurst, did not have a license. She tested positive for methylamphetamine (ice) after a road test.
She was arrested and taken to Kogarah police station.
The driver was charged with operating a motor vehicle during a period of prohibition. She has been granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear in Sutherland local court on January 25.
The woman was one of several people caught on the roads during the Christmas season road safety enforcement operation.
Operation Christmas / New Year 2021 ended on January 3.
Statewide, police have issued 8,414 speeding offenses and arrested 580 drunk driving people.
Five people have died in crashes during the period, the same number in the operation last year.
