Several residents and staff at Goodwin Retirement Living centers in Canberra have contracted COVID-19. In a letter to residents, executive director Erik Boddeus said a number of staff and contract workers tested positive at Goodwin House and Goodwin Living in Ainslie, David Harper House and Ralph Cartwright Center in Monash. It comes after it was announced on Monday that a Goodwin House staff member had tested positive. In addition, Mr Boddeus confirmed that a resident of Goodwin Village Ainslie and two residents of Goodwin Village Monash were also diagnosed with the virus. Residents are recovering at home with support from staff, family and ACT Health “[Staff members were] asymptomatic on their way to work and were tested and quarantined as soon as they developed symptoms, ”he said. “Upon learning this information, Goodwin immediately implemented its COVID-19 outbreak management plan, which we have been continuously testing and reviewing ever since.
