Canberra registers 12 new cases of COVID-19

The ACT recorded 12 new cases of COVID-19 during the last reporting period.

There are now four cases of COVID in hospitals in Canberra, one of which is in intensive care and on a ventilator.

The apparent spike in hospitalizations due to COVID comes from a change in reporting methods by health authorities to include both active cases and cases cleared in hospital.

Previously, ACT Health only reported the number of active cases still requiring treatment.

The 12 new daily cases brought the number of active cases in the capital to 185.

There are now 96.5% of Canberra’s population over the age of 12 who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Testing rates in the capital have remained relatively stable, with 1,470 negative tests in the past 24 hours.

Since the Delta outbreak in ACT began in August, there have been a total of 1,841 infections.
