Here’s an event that may be too hot to handle. The Canberra Chilli Festival takes over Gold Creek Federation Square next month, offering some of the hottest dishes, condiments and challenges all in one place. Hosted by Canberra Chilli and Hot Sauces, the February 5-6 event is the one chilli lovers have been waiting for. As well as a selection of vendors offering their selections of spicy dishes, the main attraction of the weekend is the chilli competitions for young and old. Among the challenges is the Australian Extreme Meatball Challenge on Sunday. Do you like meatballs? Can you bear to eat five? Do you like your chilli? Can you handle hot and above? There will also be a hot wing challenge, a spicy shot challenge and a chilli chomping contest. To register for one of the competitions, go to cbrchillifestival@hotmail.com. The event will take place on February 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on February 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Our reporters work hard to provide local, up-to-date news to the community.
