Brossard apartment block evacuated as police respond to man in crisis

An apartment block on Marie-Victorin Blvd. in Brossard was evacuated Thursday morning as Longueuil police reported they were dealing with a man in crisis who was possibly armed with a crossbow.

The situation was resolved around 5:30 pm, when the man was arrested, according to a spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

The incident began to unfold around 11:20 am, when police learned a man in his 20s was barricaded inside his apartment.

The building was evacuated and Marie-Victorin was closed between Talbot St. and Rome Blvd. Motorists were advised to avoid the area.

There were no reports of injuries.
