The Windsor Bicycling Committee is once again offering a free bike parking service at Charles Clark Square on June 27. From 6 to 11 pm, cyclists will be able to lock their bikes within a corral space that will be actively monitored throughout the evening.
“Cycling is a great option for fireworks given the road closures and sheer numbers it brings into the downtown core,” said Ward 9 Coun. Kieran McKenzie, committee chair.
“Most cyclists attending fireworks will beat the motorized vehicular traffic and do not have to compete or pay for parking. For many people, cycling can be the safest and most efficient way to attend fireworks in the downtown core.”
The committee offered the bike parking service in 2019, the last time the fireworks were held before a pandemic hiatus. More than 100 cyclists took advantage of the service.
