Arsenal’s Premier League Fixtures 2022/23

As was the case a year ago, once again Arsenal will be the curtain-raisers for the new Premier League season.

The 2022-23 fixtures were confirmed on Thursday and the Gunners will get their campaign underway against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. It’s a fixture that carries similarities to Week 1 in 2021-22, when Arsenal also played on a Friday night against newly-promoted Brentford.

In that game, a 2-0 defeat paved the way for a challenging start to the season. Manager Mikel Arteta will want to see his team out of the blocks much quicker on this occasion, but there is a lot of work for him and the recruitment team to do before the big kick off.

MirrorSport have all of your latest Arsenal news.

Every team has those undesirable sequences of games throughout a Premier League season – Arsenal’s come in October and April.

While the Gunners look well placed to get off to a fast start – matches against Leicester, Bournemouth and Fulham follow their Week 1 trip to south London -, between October 1 and November 5 they play Tottenham, Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester City, Southampton, Forest and Chelsea.

Then in April, when the team will be hopeful of being in a top-four hunt, they will have matches to negotiate against Leeds, Liverpool, West Ham, Southampton, Man City and Chelsea.

Vitinha transfer plan

A potential transfer plan has been suggested for Arsenal, centering around the reported interest the club has in Porto midfielder Vitinha.

The Gunners and Manchester United have both been linked to the former Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee via reports in Portugal, with Porto president Pinto da Costa confirming an offer has been turned down from an unnamed club.

While it’s unclear if that was Arsenal or not, there is a suggestion the Gunners could use the speculation to potentially get one over on United.

Scallop deal edges closer

While Arsenal may be intrigued to use one Porto star in a transfer plan, they may well be closing in on another.

According to reports in Portugal, the Gunners have reached an agreement to sign Fabio Vieira. The 22-year-old is said to have a £34 million clause in his contract with Porto. Should a deal go through as expected then Vieira will become the Gunners’ second addition of the transfer window, having already confirmed the arrival of Sao Paolo youngster Marquinhos.

Vieira was key to Porto winning the Portuguese top flight and the Taca de Portugal last term with seven goals and 16 assists in all competitions. The youngster played across midfield in 2022-23, although he was most frequently used centrally in support of the centre-forward.
