New York is in the midst of a major Covid-19 outbreak, forcing its transportation system to announce on Monday that there will be fewer trains running this week. The MTA said there was a lack of staff to keep the service running at full capacity.
New York state broke a one-day record for new Covid-19 cases on Christmas Eve, reaching 49,708, according to the governor’s office. The number of new Covid-19 cases in New York City has climbed more than 600% in the past two weeks to 17,334 on Monday.
