After months of speculation and denial, Andrew Garfield has returned in Spider-Man: No Way Home – and it may not be the end for the The Amazing Spider-Man actor on Peter Parker.
In a new interview with Variety, Garfield was keen to stress that he would be ready for another appearance if the Spider-stars line up.
“I mean yes, [I would] definitively [be] open to something if that’s okay with you, ”Garfield said.
Expanding on this response, Garfield described the character as “a working class boy from Queens who experiences struggle and loss and is deeply empathetic. I would try to borrow Peter Parker’s ethical framework on this.”
Garfield added, “If there was an opportunity to take a step back and tell more of this story, I should feel very confident and sure of myself.”
While this is far from definitive, it will likely fan the flames for those involved in a campaign to make The Amazing Spider-Man 3 a reality.
But it could be a great idea to tempt him to come back. On No Way Home’s initial pitch from producers Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal, and director Jon Watts, Garfield said, “It sounded incredibly fun, incredibly witty – trippy and thematically interesting.”
In a previous interview, the MJ Zendaya actor revealed how the trio of Spider-Man Garfield, Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire have bonded on set: “It was so lovely to see you all. log in on that and be able to talk about an experience so special that very few people got to put on the costume. “
Whether Garfield will don the costume again remains to be seen. In the meantime, be sure to check out what’s to come in the MCU with our full Marvel Phase 4 guide.
