Allegheny Health Network will require people to wear surgical-type masks in all facilities

Friday night, Allegheny Health Network officials announced changes to mask requirements for all facilities.

AHN now requires all patients, visitors and healthcare teams to wear a surgical type, N95 or KN95 face mask.

Such masks will be provided to those who do not have them.

Officials said cloth masks were recommended at the start of the pandemic because more protective masks were in short supply.

Officials said covid variants, particularly omicron, required policy change and should be on par with recommendations from the National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
