When she started dating SaladStop! in 2010, Linda Goh saw it as a convenient way to grab a quick and healthy lunch before returning to work at a private bank. Nowadays, Goh continues to patronize the healthy food chain, albeit through his online store.
“While it didn’t matter to me in the past, today I’m more aware of what I’m eating. I therefore appreciate the nutritional information that accompanies my meals at SaladStop! and that the company has a determined mission towards sustainability, ”said the 43-year-old Singaporean.
Goh is one of a growing number of consumers who are paying increasing attention to where the food they eat comes from and the businesses they attend to their commitment to the principles of eco-sustainability. It’s a group that SaladStop! identified when it launched 12 years ago, with a commitment to “Eat Wide Awake”. The slogan reflects his philosophy that eating well encompasses not only treating our bodies with kindness, but also the world around us.
“At that time, we could see that people were looking for healthier food. We knew the world was changing, ”recalls Adrien Desbaillets, of Swiss origin, who created SaladStop! with her father Daniel in 2009. Two years later, her sister Katherine joined the company while her husband, Frantz Braha joined in 2015.
“Very early on, we knew it could be something big,” continues Adrien. “Once we knew we were on the right track, we signed three to four pitches. We were very optimistic. We thought it was make or break.
