A man clings to life after being shot dead in Brisbane city center

A man remains in hospital fighting for life after being cut in Brisbane downtown earlier this morning.

Police were called to a house on Highland Street in Wavell Heights at around 7.45am today after reports that a man in his 30s had been shot dead.

It is believed there had been an altercation with a group of people at the home prior to the shooting.

Police confirmed a man was seen driving away in a silver car a short time later.

“A male has been located with significant leg injuries,” a spokesperson said. Queensland Police says 9news.com.au.

Police believe the victim was known to her attacker.

Nearby residents performed CPR on the man before emergency services arrived.

“He was taken to hospital in critical condition,” the police spokesman said.

“And a crime scene has since been declared as investigations continue.”

Several residents have been confirmed to live in the house, including young children.

Neighborhood residents said it was not uncommon to see police at the residence and that officers searched the property weeks ago.

“The windows are all blocked up making everyone suspicious, everyone here I’ve spoken to is very suspicious of what’s going on there,” neighbor Barry said.

“We hope that now they will move.”

No one has been charged in connection with the incident, with police taking statements from adult residents of the home to help with investigations.
